The Studio: A Movement Living Lab

THE STUDIO
A place to learn movement
La Luz Body Align is a small, practice-based movement studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Our work is grounded in classical Pilates and expanded through an integrative approach to movement education through other movement modalities such as Alexander Technique, Melt Method and other somatic approaches.
Our Mission
La Luz Body Align is a small, practice-based movement studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We teach Pilates through movement, curiosity, and exploration. Our goal is to help you connect with your most natural and authentic self.
We care about the details: how you breathe, how you coordinate, and how you move. Instead of chasing intensity or constantly introducing something new, we return to the practice again and again. This is how real understanding and lasting strength are built.

Luz Guillen
Studio Owner and Teacher
Luz Guillen is a native New Mexican, dancer, and Pilates teacher whose work is rooted in a lifelong study of the body through movement.
She earned her BA in Dance, Modern and Contemporary, from the University of New Mexico and went on to dance professionally in New York City. There, she completed 600 hours of Pilates training with second-generation teacher Roberta Kirschenbaum at Rolates Pilates, the original site of Joseph Pilates’ studio.
Luz has continued to deepen her Pilates practice through mentorship and study with teachers including Siri Galliano, Alessandra Magalhães, Mary Bowen, Michael King, Malcolm Muirhead, Phoebe Higgins, and Michelle Larsson, along with anatomy studies with Irene Dowd.
Her studies have expanded into fascia, the nervous system, and somatic movement through the MELT Method and Alexander Technique. Today, Luz brings these influences together with her background in dance and classical Pilates to help people develop a deeper understanding of their bodies through awareness, curiosity, and practice.
Luz is a nationally certified Pilates instructor and the founder of La Luz Body Align.
